The professional printing staff at Sun Gold Sports specializes at custom printing on various types of apparel. Sun Gold Sports will customize your team uniforms with player names and numbers, create embroidered shirts for your club or organization, and handle practically any other custom printing job you can imagine. We supply various brands and styles of clothing. Below are the three core printing methods we excel at.
Screen printing is a method in which ink is applied directly to the surface to be printed. The image to be printed is photographically transferred to a very fine fabric (the screen) such that the non-printing areas are blocked off and the fabric serves as a stencil. The ink is wiped across the screen to pass through the unblocked pores and reach the substrate. For each color to be printed a separate screen is prepared and the process is repeated.
Digital printing is a direct-to-garmit printing method, in which artwork is processed from the computer and printed directly on the apparel of choice. This method does not use screens so it is much easier to get more detail and colors without an increase in cost. Digital printing is used mostly for smaller jobs that require a quick turn around time. The only drawback to digital printing is the limits you have on shirt choices. It is a fairly new process, which allows us to only print on shirts that are made primarily of cotton.
Vinyl Printing is a process, which has a very wide variety of uses. Here at Sun Gold Sports we use a wide-format, solvent printing method of vinyl printing. This allows us to provide options such as banners, signage, and decals of any kind. It also allows us to print detailed custom apparel options. With the growing popularity of polyester & lightweight materials this is a process used more and more in the apparel industry.
The definition of embroider is to decorate by sewing patterns with thread. Embroidery can be done either by hand or machine. These days, mass-produced embroidery projects are almost always executed by a computer program which utilizes specialized software to control the embroidery machine. How does Sun Gold handle embroidery?
Sublimation is a process whereby the printer transfers a digital image, either by scanning or downloading a file, onto fabric. We use a special sublimation ink, as it’s literally called, to place the image on paper. Once the image is on the paper, we place it under a heat press and heat the paper until the inks turns to a gas and transfers the image onto the piece of clothing.
